Home Exercises Tips for Your & Your Furry Friend

If you are unable to go outside to exercise, there are many things you can do around the house to keep you and your dog active. It is not every day we can visit the park or get out for a leisurely stroll with our pets, so we must come up with ideas for exercising at home. Here are some great tips to keep you and your pet moving.

Use the Stairs

If you have stairs in your home, make use of them as an exercise tool. You can get your dog to chase you up and down the stairs, so you both get some good exercise. Stairs are great for burning calories and after a few repetitions going up and down, you and your dog will be panting for air and some much-needed water. It is a good chance to get your dog using other muscles they do not normally use when running or walking outdoors.

Hide & Seek Games

If you are looking at dogs for sale in Sydney, but you are worried about not being able to take them outside all the time, you can play fun games indoors. Hide and seek is a great way to keep dogs active when you cannot get outside for a walk. It is the perfect game to keep pups moving, as you can play with young kids who love to participate. Find a good place to hide, call for your dog and give them a treat when they find you.

Tug of War

Dogs love chewing and biting on things, so why not include a game that allows them to do just that. Tug of war is a fun game to play with your dog and it is a great way to burn off some pent-up energy. Your dog can get overexcited with this game, so do not play it too often during the day.


If you cannot get out for walks, you can always invest in a doggy treadmill. Once they get used to the treadmill, you can control the speed and keep them fit and healthy.

If you wish to get a dog, but you are concerned about how time they will get outdoors, you can always come up with ways to keep them active inside. There are plenty of games you and the family can get involved in and you could buy a doggy treadmill to work out together. You just have to be creative with home workouts.
